Beginnings of Conversations

2020-2021 | Helsinki

Students in Arkki’s advanced studies explored new architecture in the metropolitan area and considered how they could participate in and contribute to the planning and discussion of the environment. The students collectively selected three current buildings they wanted to examine more closely.

Designers of the Merikylpylä and Central Library responded to students’ questions in interviews about successes and challenges in design, principles of sustainable development, and involving children and youth. In an interview with a resident of a high-rise building, topics included the city’s skyline, views, communal spaces, and safety.
