Workshops for Schools

Arkki’s workshops for schools integrate various subjects and support comprehensive skills development. The workshops are suitable for grades 1–9 and are held at Arkki’s facilities in Helsinki’s Cable Factory. Workshops are available in 90 and 120-minute sessions.
Space and Furniture
In this workshop, modern Finnish interiors and furniture are examined, starting from Alvar Aalto’s Villa Mairea and the Paimio chair. Each student designs and builds their own interior space from a variety of construction materials and customizes it with their chosen piece of furniture.

Tower
This workshop explores tall landmark buildings in architecture, including scale, proportions, and structures. Each student constructs their own triangular tower using sticks and hot glue. The towers can be combined into a joint skyscraper city and spectacularly illuminated.

LEGO® Urban Planning
The workshop begins with an inspiring introduction to urban planning principles and future construction. In the practical part, students build their ideal city on a chosen zoning map. The city is then explored and photographed from various perspectives using mobile cameras.
