Basic Architecture Education

You are here:

In basic architecture education, the art field is examined from small details of the built environment to large entities, from the past to the future, and as a phenomenon that spans from the local to the global and as a three-dimensional art of space. The contents of the education are constructed by combining these perspectives in a versatile manner. When selecting content, pupils’ interests and various current phenomena are taken into account. The starting points are the pupils’ own experiences and observations of the built environment.

Basic education is intended for school-aged children. The students are divided into age groups of 7ā€“9, 9ā€“11, 11ā€“13 and 13ā€“15. Teaching is given in groups of 12 pupils. The groups meet once a week for two lessons (2 Ɨ 45 min).

In basic architecture studies semester includes 15 x 90 min of teaching and also independent work at home. Each semester, a trip to a topical destination is made for one or two lessons. There are 14 or 15 meetings per semester, depending on the duration of the trip.
