Yearly Schedule
Arkki’s academic year consists of the fall and spring semesters, as well as optional theme courses. Weekly teaching groups for basic art education progress step-by-step during the fall and spring semesters, while intensive theme courses are organized during the summer and school holidays.
Early childhood architectural education, basic architectural education, and advanced architectural studies are primarily conducted in weekly teaching groups, once a week, with two teaching hours (2 x 45 min) per session. In addition to in-person teaching, weekly studies include independent work. Independent work, intended to support in-person teaching and deepen learning, is part of the academic year’s teaching scope. Theme courses are organized as intensive courses. Theme courses are open to everyone, but pupils enrolled in Arkki’s studies have priority access.
Basic and advanced studies include a study trip each semester. Annually, usually in the spring, there is a joint end-of-season celebration for all pupils and their parents, as well as an exhibition of projects completed during the year. The celebration often includes workshop activities.
The academic year begins in September during week 35, and the spring semester starts in January during week 4. Early childhood architectural education is provided in 10-pupil child-parent groups, with 12 sessions per semester. In basic and advanced studies, the group size is 12, with 15 sessions. The group teacher provides detailed schedules specific to each group.
